Read Together for Positive Elderly Care in Mathews, NC

How much time do you spend with your mother? If she is struggling to take care of herself, or needs a little extra help every once in a while, you may be spending more time with her lately than you have in a long time. This is a positive aspect of elderly care, but how much quality time are you spending with her?

In other words, is the time that you’re spending with time that you can think back on and be happy about? Or are you simply going through the motions to provide the level of care that she needs and nothing more?

If you’re running late all the time and struggling to take care of your own family, or your job, or anything else that is directly related to you because you still have to take care of your mother, then you probably won’t be spending much quality time with her.

If you are an avid reader and you tend to spend quite a bit of time in the evening or at night reading, then have you ever considered the possibility of reading together with her? She might also be an avid reader and if you don’t share the same tastes when it comes to books, that doesn’t mean that you have to read the same book, but you can spend time sitting in the living room with her reading your book while she reads one of her own.

Or you could read to her. Imagine taking the time to share in a great book together, getting to the scenes at the same time and cherishing the same moments of discovery that good books offer to their readers.

You would then be able to go home at the end of the day smiling about the quality time that you spent with your mother. Even if your mother has an elderly care provider who comes to her home or even lives in the house with her, there are still many wonderful opportunities for you to spend quality time with your mother.

Remember, it’s about the quality of the time that you spend with your mother rather than the amount of it. One of the most common things that people think about when they have lost a loved one is that they didn’t do this or didn’t do that with them. Rarely is it about the amount of time that they didn’t get to spend together.

For great elderly care, why not read together this weekend?
